Pumpkin Patch

We went to a great Pumpkin Patch with Orion's school!
First we rode on the Pumpkin Harvest Express to where the pumpkins were.

There was a maze made of hay bales and Orion LOVED it!

And a pyramid of hay bales for climbing. He and Pops played "King of the Mountain".

After getting the pumpkins, you could load them in a wheelbarrow and wheel it onto the BOAT that took you across the pond to to get back to where we'd started. They had awesome metal "sea creatures" that jumped up out of the lake as the boat went by!

The label on this was, "How tall this Fall?"Orion is measuring in at 43 inches these days!
And then there was MUCH running and chasing and playing of tag!

I couldn't believe how many times they did this, each time getting up with big grins and laughing. All the concerned moms kept saying, "Gentle now, gentle touches! Is everyone ok? Are you all having fun? Be nice now!" And all I could think of was the part I read in The Wonder of Boys where the author talks about boys learning non-verbal communication through rough and tumble play and that as long as they get to play, they will grow up to be considerate and thoughtful men. Here's hoping he's right!

The best thing was that the weather held out while we were there. The forecast was for showers and as we were driving the kids back to school, the sky opened up and it poured! We lucked out!
