Click the photo and you can see a bigger version. Easter was a lot of fun. Orion delighted in finding the eggs. Soleo was thrilled to find his basket that had a toy car in it. Plastic eggs had candy and Pirate Legos (to assemble) for Orion and some cheesey puffs that Soleo devoured. All the real eggs were accounted for and upon peeling them, I realized it's time to switch to the more natural dyes.
(But a big thank you to Larry and Linda for sending the egg dye because I'd forgotten to get any and we would have been in a tight spot when Orion was ready to color eggs!)
We had breakfast out so Orion could have the strawberry crepes and whipped cream that he requested. Turns out if you start the day at the crack of dawn, you beat the breakfast rush by about two hours! At lunch time, Technicolor egg salad was eaten by the grown ups and grilled cheese by the kids. Everyone was very, very happy!
Happy Spring everyone!

Egg-dyeing isn't a thing here, so we don't use a regular egg-dyeing kit. In the past we've used a variety of things, from beet juice to regular food coloring. Some partially american friends came over for egg dyeing this year and she brought her fancy (Wilton's?) frosting colors. They made the eggs spotty, though! It was so weird. And they went all the way through the shells, especially when they were allowed to sit in the dye. Back to regular food coloring for us... I can't really deal with technicolor egg salad!
