Snow Daze

This was the snow this morning.
6-8 inches of snow, covered with 1/2 inch of ice.

Mama's first big shovel job. Not bad for a valley girl, eh? The central Oregon native is still sick with the flu that had me down yesterday (bummer timing...), so getting access to the chickens was all my job. The girls have been pretty tolerant of perpetually frozen water, still laying really well, but I knew that snow + broken up ice + forecasted freezing rain would mean an ankle twisting disaster for our thrice daily trip to give the girls some water. So shovel I did. And ibuprofen I did take.

Check out the icicles!

This shows how thick the ice is on top of the snow. Yikes!
Since then we've had another 1/2" inch of freezing rain and another three inches of snow.
Looks like we'll be having a white Christmas!

At least the windshield wipers won't freeze to the Corolla...

Happy chickens.

Frozen Hemlock.

Kozmo looooves the snow. The ice was a bit much for him at first, but as soon as he realized he could break through it, he ran all over the place!

The Big Storm never materialized here. All we had yesterday was lots of rain! We did get some snow this morning, but now it's more rain. Blech.

Your stockings are beautiful!!
